Based on aggregated data, a Kohler LuxStone shower costs $14,000 to $29,000 installed, with a typical job near $18,000. Of that, the product (walls, base, door, fixtures and accessories) accounts for roughly $12,000 to $24,000 and installation for $2,000 to $5,000, and the crew is usually in the house for 1 to 2 days. A like-for-like replacement in the same alcove typically needs no permit. A conversion that moves the drain or the valve is a different matter, and the dealer’s quote states who pulls the permit.
Those figures are not a price list. Kohler sells LuxStone only through authorized dealers who quote each bathroom after an in-home visit, and the brand’s own offer terms state that the dealers set all prices. The range on this page is compiled from what the manufacturer publishes, what one authorized dealer publishes and what owners report having paid.
LuxStone, Reveal by Kohler and What the Name Covers
LuxStone is the name of the wall material, and in everyday use the whole shower program. Kohler now markets that program as Reveal by Kohler, and the old kohlershowers.com pages redirect to it. A quote under either name prices the same thing: a complete shower, designed at a home visit, built from Kohler components and installed by a Kohler-trained crew.
| Component | What Kohler and its dealers describe |
|---|---|
| Walls | Crushed stone and other natural materials, cut to fit on site, joined with hidden joints and trim, no grout |
| Wall patterns | Ten: Calacatta Gold, Statuary, Calacatta Crema, Cintilante Bluette, VeinCut Dune, CrossCut Dune, White Brick, Ice Grey, White, Biscuit |
| Base | Several sizes and drain positions, with a 3-inch threshold |
| Doors | Frameless sliding, pivot or barn-style glass, clear or frosted |
| Fixtures | Kohler showerheads and handshowers, with an optional Anthem digital control for two or three outlets |
| Accessories | Grab bars, folding or movable seats, foot rests, shelves, towel bars, hooks |
The material is what the price is built around. Kohler calls it nonporous and stain resistant. One authorized dealer describes its newer version, Serica, as crushed natural stone reinforced with high-strength fiber strands. Because the caulk and silicone are hidden behind trim, the finished wall shows no grout line and no visible bead of sealant.
What Kohler and Its Dealers Publish
LuxStone is one of the few dealer-sold showers with a manufacturer figure attached. Kohler’s LuxStone pricing page states that the average cost to install a LuxStone shower falls between $14,000 and $29,000, or more depending on scope and customization. The other published figures sit inside that band:
| Source | Published figure | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Kohler (manufacturer) | $14,000–$29,000+ | Average installed LuxStone shower, national |
| Authorized dealer, Colorado | $18,000–$25,000; $25,000+ for larger or custom layouts | Standard shower replacement, from the dealer’s own installations |
| Owner reviews collected by the same dealer | $14,000–$20,000+ | A single shower installation, materials, accessories and labor |
| One owner review | $15,000 | A walk-in shower, about a year after installation |
| One published owner quote | $18,000, $15,800 after a warehouse-club promotion | A bathtub-and-shower replacement |
None of the manufacturer, dealer or owner figures puts a complete LuxStone shower below $14,000; the lower figures that circulate online are generic walk-in shower ranges, not LuxStone quotes. The $18,000 typical figure is where three independent points meet: the bottom of the dealer’s standard-replacement band, the published quote before its promotion, and the middle of the reviewer-reported band. The upper end is wider than any one dealer’s figure because the manufacturer’s own range runs to $29,000 and beyond.
The same pricing page sets the industry beside it. Kohler puts a basic walk-in shower, an insert or overlay with basic materials, at $8,000 to $10,000; a mid-range one at $10,000 to $18,000; and a premium one at $18,000 to $29,000 and up. On the manufacturer’s own scale, LuxStone starts inside the mid-range tier and reaches the top of the premium one.
What the Quote Includes
Kohler lists what a personalized quote contains:
- an in-home design consultation and measurement
- removal and disposal of the existing shower or bathtub
- the custom-fitted layout, LuxStone walls and base
- Kohler fixtures and finishes
- professional installation, final inspection and cleanup
Kohler calls this its Price Promise: one price, no hidden fees, valid for 90 days. The dealer also assesses the plumbing and electrical supply during the visit, and that assessment feeds into the price. Dealer terms can be more generous than the brand’s: the Colorado dealer above advertises an all-inclusive quote good for one full year.
What the quote leaves out is the rest of the room. Flooring outside the shower, the vanity, the toilet, lighting and ventilation are separate unless the dealer itemizes them.
Materials vs Labor: Installation Is About a Sixth
| Line | Low | Typical | High | Share of total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Product: walls, base, door, fixtures, accessories | $12,000 | $14,500 | $24,000 | 81–86% |
| Installation: demolition, removal, fitting, trim-out | $2,000 | $3,500 | $5,000 | 14–19% |
| Total | $14,000 | $18,000 | $29,000 |
The installation band is Kohler’s own: its breakdown of the walk-in shower category puts installation, including demolition and removal of the old shower or bath, at $2,000 to $5,000 and up. Product and accessories fill the rest. Kohler’s FAQ confirms that a LuxStone quote never shows the two separately; demolition, installation and components come as one bundled price.
The split explains where negotiation can and cannot move a quote. The installation line covers the same tasks in every bathroom, and its whole width is $3,000. The product line spans $12,000, and it is shaped by wall pattern, base size, glass, fixtures and the number of accessories chosen at the consultation table.
The Same Shower Bought Piece by Piece
Every component in a LuxStone package has an independent equivalent, and this site prices each one separately. Assembling a stone-look shower from those jobs gives a reference point for what the package costs on top of its parts:
| Component | Independent equivalent | Installed cost |
|---|---|---|
| Removal of the old tub or shower | Removal and disposal, from bathtub replacement data | $60–$600 |
| Base | Shower pan installation | $500–$3,500 |
| Stone-look walls | Cultured marble or solid-surface panels, from tub surround installation data | $2,000–$4,500 |
| Glass door | Shower door installation | $400–$3,000 |
| Valve | Shower valve replacement | $200–$900 |
| Two grab bars | Installed into existing walls, from walk-in shower data | $200–$1,000 |
| Folding seat | Wall-mounted, load-rated | $300–$800 |
| Handshower on a slide bar | Second outlet or diverter | $150–$600 |
| Sum | $3,810–$14,900 |
The top of the piece-by-piece sum just reaches the bottom of the LuxStone range. The two are not identical: cultured marble and solid surface are different materials from LuxStone, and the independent sum assumes several trades scheduled one after another, which stretches the job across days. What the package adds is one company for the whole shower, a fitted system from one manufacturer, a 1-to-2-day installation and a single warranty.
A plainer benchmark is a complete tub-to-shower conversion from an independent installer at $3,000 to $10,000, typically about $6,000, over 3 to 7 days. At the typical points, LuxStone costs about $12,000 more, three times as much.
LuxStone Against Tile, Acrylic and the Other One-Day Brands
| Route | Installed range | Typical | Gap at the typical point | Time on site |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kohler LuxStone shower | $14,000–$29,000 | $18,000 | — | 1–2 days |
| Jacuzzi bath remodel | $8,000–$25,000 | $15,500 | $2,500 less | 1–2 days |
| Bathtub liner and wall surround | $1,200–$7,000 | $3,800 | $14,200 less | 1–2 days |
| Walk-in shower, independent | $4,000–$20,000 | $9,000 | $9,000 less | 1–2 weeks |
| Shower remodel, independent | $1,500–$15,000 | $5,000 | $13,000 less | 5–10 days |
| Tile shower installation | $1,200–$7,000 | $2,700 | $15,300 less | 3–5 days |
| Tub surround installation | $1,000–$8,000 | $2,500 | $15,500 less | 1–5 days |
Three readings stand out:
- Against Jacuzzi, the nearest like-for-like rival, the typical gap is about $2,500, and the two ranges overlap from $14,000 to $25,000. Both remove the old fixture and install a new base and wall system. The Jacuzzi package is built around acrylic; LuxStone’s walls are the crushed-stone composite.
- Against a liner, the comparison is between two different jobs. A liner fits over the existing tub and leaves it in place, which is why its whole range ends below LuxStone’s starting point.
- Against tile, only a full walk-in build reaches LuxStone territory. A walk-in shower with a bench, grab bars, a thermostatic valve and a low entry lands in the $12,000 to $20,000 half of its range, where it overlaps a LuxStone quote. The surface trade-off behind that choice is laid out in acrylic vs tile shower cost.
Cost by City
The walls, base and fixtures are national products, so only the installation line moves with local wages. Applying City Adjusted Cost = Materials + (Labor × City Labor Adjustment Factor) at three points of the range, with a tile shower for scale:
| City | Labor Adjustment Factor | LuxStone, Low End | LuxStone, Typical | LuxStone, High End | Tile Shower, Typical | vs. National |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chicago, IL | 1.33 | $14,660 | $19,155 | $30,650 | $3,260 | +33% |
| Seattle, WA | 1.29 | $14,580 | $19,015 | $30,450 | $3,195 | +29% |
| Denver, CO | 1.07 | $14,140 | $18,245 | $29,350 | $2,820 | +7% |
| Atlanta, GA | 0.92 | $13,840 | $17,720 | $28,600 | $2,565 | −8% |
| San Antonio, TX | 0.85 | $13,700 | $17,475 | $28,250 | $2,445 | −15% |
Labor adjustment factors are derived from BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (May 2025): the median ratio of local to national hourly wages across the trades that do this work. How this is calculated.
Across the dataset’s factors, 0.85 to 1.33, the typical LuxStone job runs from about $17,475 to $19,155, a swing of about 9 percent. The typical tile shower moves by about $815 over the same span, a smaller amount but about 30 percent of its price. Wages explain only a small share of the difference between one dealer and another. The Colorado dealer’s standard band runs up to $25,000, while the wage factor for its home metro moves the national typical job by only a few hundred dollars; the rest comes from what each dealer counts as standard.
The $1,000 Offer and 12 Months Without Interest
LuxStone is usually advertised with a discount and a financing promotion. The terms published on Kohler’s site in October 2026:
- $1,000 off the average price of a LuxStone shower, at participating dealers, through November 30, 2026. Not available in Alaska, California, Missouri, New York, Oregon, South Dakota or Utah. The dealer, not Kohler, funds the discount, and it cannot be combined with another advertised offer.
- No interest for 12 months, through GreenSky financing at participating dealers, subject to credit approval.
What those two terms are worth depends on the quote:
| Quote | $1,000 off as a share | Monthly payment to clear it in 12 months |
|---|---|---|
| $14,000 (low end) | 7.1% | ~$1,085 after the discount |
| $18,000 (typical) | 5.6% | ~$1,415 after the discount |
| $29,000 (high end) | 3.4% | ~$2,335 after the discount |
A no-interest window is only interest-free if the balance is cleared inside it, and what happens to a remaining balance after month 12 is set by the lender’s credit agreement, not by the promotion banner. At a typical job, clearing it takes about $1,415 a month. Warehouse-club promotions appear in owner accounts too: one published quote fell from $18,000 to $15,800, about 12 percent, under one.
Warranty and Care Terms That Affect the Cost
Kohler backs the shower with a Lifetime Limited Warranty, and the full terms sit on kohler.com’s warranty page. One authorized dealer’s published account adds the conditions that matter for the price:
- Coverage runs for as long as the original buyer owns the home, and covers the walls, base, fixtures and accessories.
- It applies when an authorized dealer installs the shower. The same dealer states that a non-certified installation drops coverage to one year, and an improper one can void it.
- It covers manufacturing defects, not normal wear, misuse or damage from harsh cleaning products.
The cleaning condition is the one owners most often miss. According to the same dealer, Kohler’s care instructions specify that cleaning products are not left to soak on the surface, and in practice that rules out abrasive and bleach-based cleaners too. The same summary records a small number of reports of pattern wear on certain finishes after several years, including one owner who described a VeinCut Dune wall wearing after about five years. A lifetime warranty is a promise about defects, not a measured lifespan, and long-term field data for the material is still shorter than for tile.
Repair follows the same channel as the sale. Panels are proprietary, so a damaged section is replaced through Kohler’s network rather than with a part from a home center.
Timeline: A Day or Two in the Bathroom
Kohler describes three steps: removal of the old shower or bath, installation of the walls and the selected accessories, and a final fit-out, with the whole installation in as little as a day. Owner accounts are close to that. One reported a single day, with an overnight wait before first use; another reported two days after a component arrived broken; a third reported a day and a half for a shower and a walk-in tub together.
The calendar before installation day is the dealer’s. The walls are cut to fit on site, and Kohler’s FAQ states that the dealer gives a timeline at the visit and that some bathrooms take longer. An older house can add days and dollars. When the old shower comes out, installers sometimes find plumbing or wall repairs that have to be done first, and in this site’s data new subfloor decking alone runs $3 to $10 per square foot with the floor open, or $2,000 to $5,000 where the rot has spread across the bathroom and into the joists.
DIY and Retail Availability
There is no DIY LuxStone. Kohler sells the walls only through authorized dealers as part of an installed shower, and a self-installation would also fall outside the dealer-installed warranty described above. Kohler-branded shower products at home centers are other product lines, not LuxStone panels. The self-managed alternative is a retail base and a panel kit, priced on the DIY bathroom remodel cost page, and the cheapest ways to refresh a worn shower without replacing it are in low-cost bathroom remodel.
Related Bathroom Costs
The right comparison depends on what the bathroom needs. Where only the walls are tired and the tub is sound, a tub surround installation at $1,000 to $8,000 replaces the three walls and leaves the tub alone. Where a rarely used tub is the problem, an independent tub-to-shower conversion runs $3,000 to $10,000, and tub vs shower cost sets out the choice before any fixture is picked. A tiled build is priced on the tile shower installation page at $1,200 to $7,000, and a branded remove-and-replace alternative is the Jacuzzi bath remodel at $8,000 to $25,000.
Where the remodel goes beyond the shower, a full bathroom remodel at $10,000 to $30,000 covers the whole room, so a LuxStone quote near the top of its range buys an alcove for the price of a complete independent bathroom. The bathroom cost hub lists every bathroom project on the site, and the methodology page explains how each range is compiled.
What Moves a LuxStone Quote Down
- Fewer accessories. Seats, grab bars, shelves and a digital control are each a line inside the product price, which is the 81 to 86 percent of the quote that varies.
- Keep the footprint. A like-for-like replacement in the same alcove avoids drain and valve moves and, usually, the permit that comes with them.
- Check the offer window. The $1,000 discount is worth 7.1 percent of a $14,000 quote and 3.4 percent of a $29,000 one, and it is not offered in seven states.
- Price the 12 months honestly. A typical job takes about $1,415 a month to clear inside the no-interest window.
- Use the 90 days. The quote is held for 90 days under Kohler’s terms, and longer at some dealers, which leaves time to price an independent conversion or a walk-in shower beside it.
- Read the warranty before signing. Its value depends on dealer installation and on the cleaning conditions, both written into the terms.

Actual pricing is set by each authorized dealer and depends on the shower size, the components chosen, the condition behind the existing walls and the local market.
